TRIVIA AND STUFF JUST FOR FUN

According to National Geographic Magazine, a new resort is planned for the Victoria Falls region of Zambia. The project will disturb prime Elephant migratory lands and is vehemently opposed by grass roots groups and even government officials in the area. The developer’s solution to the problem is an elephant corridor/ crosswalk if you can believe it. I can’t make this up!!

ASK BRAMSCHANDOZ

Q: I have some small photo portraits at home that have developed multi-color rings at the bottom under the frame glass. What is causing this?

A: The photo emulsion on the photo has been compromised and there are a few things that can cause this. One is cheap photo paper as is often used in places specializing in fast turnaround of your photos. Another is intense, direct light (like sunlight) hitting the photo in the same place day in and day out. The most likely culprit though is moisture. Glass “sweats” as room temperature changes. This condensation can run down the inside of the glass and collect at the bottom inside edge of the frame. The dampness then begins to work on the photo paper causing rings and in severe cases mildew.
